Get the delicious layers you love – seasoned ground beef, crispy tostada shells, and melty cheese, without leaving your house.

This easy Taco Bell Crunchwrap recipe lets you make the crispy, cheesy favorite at home—better than the drive-thru!

Best Homemade Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme Recipe (Copycat)

I’m not sure if this is controversial, but I’m a Taco Bell girlie. I know that some folks consider it a 2AM post-night out delicacy only. I am an elder-millennial and a mom of a preschoolers, so I’ve only seen 2AM when I’m with crying babies for the last SEVERAL years.

That doesn’t stop me from the occasional Taco Bell, though, and the lines are way shorter at 11:30 AM too! Haha.

My order is typically one of three things at Taco Bell: a bean burrito with no onions, a Nachos Bell Grande, or a Crunchwrap Supreme.

The Crunchwrap is a delicious meal packaged in a fun (and convenient) way! The real deal AND my copycat recipe consist of layers of soft tortilla, crunchy tostada shell, seasoned ground beef, nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream.

I even grab a bottle of Taco Bell Mild Sauce from the grocery store when making these for the same yummy dipping experience.

This Crunchwrap Supreme recipe combines ground beef, cheese, tortillas, tostadas, sour cream, tomatoes, and lettuce to create the at home version of the Taco Bell Fave.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS COPYCAT TACO BELL CRUNCHWRAP RECIPE

Easy to Make at Home: No drive-thru required!

Fun: There’s just something really fun about the construction of these crunch wraps. A whole meal in one convenient package.

Texture: I love the combined textures of the soft shell exterior and the crunchy tostada inside. Add that with the combo of the cool veggies and sour cream with the warm cheese and meat? It’s the ultimate mix and match situation.

Customizable: The ingredients of the copycat Taco Bell CrunchWrap Supreme are easily swapped for whatever you prefer. Vegetarian? Sub the ground beef for refried beans! Add your favorite toppings to make it your own. Picky kiddos? Serve the individual ingredients they enjoy separately.

Quality: You can fully control the quality of this unlike the fast food version. Use organic meats and produce if desired and substitute the store bought taco seasoning for a homemade version. They’re delicious using my homemade sugar free taco seasoning!

Taco Bell Crunchwrap Ingredients include: XL Tortillas, Nacho Cheese Sauce, Shredded Lettuce, Taco Meat, Tomatoes, Tostadas, sour cream and optional toppings such as guacamole and hot sauce.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Lean Ground Beef: The protein base of your meal. Lean ground beef (I like 93/7) ensures it’s flavorful but not greasy. If you do use a fattier option, be sure to drain any excess grease.
  • Taco Bell Mild Taco Seasoning: For a more authentic “Taco Bell” experience, I like to use Taco Bell brand taco seasoning. If I want to spice it up and make it more my own, I use my sugar free taco and fajita seasoning blend instead.
  • Water: You’ll use water to incorporate the taco seasoning blend with the meat. You can omit this if you use my seasoning blend recipe instead of the Taco Bell version.
  • Tostada Shell: I buy traditional tostada shells for this recipe, but using tortilla chips or even Doritos instead is great! It will save you a couple bucks in making the recipe if you already have chips on hand!
  • XL Flour Tortillas: It’s important to get BIG tortillas in order to be able to fully enclose the fillings.
  • Mild Nacho Cheese Sauce: To keep it consistent with the Taco Bell version, I recommend nacho cheese sauce. I like to use the Pace brand or the Taco Bell Salsa con Queso, but use whatever you prefer. You can also substitute any other cheese of choice. I’ve done it with shredded cheddar and it’s delicious! I actually prefer the flavor of shredded cheese to nacho cheese but use whichever you like!
  • Diced Tomato: Tomato brings a fresh contrast to the cheesy and savory layers.
  • Shredded Lettuce: Adds crunch and freshness.
  • Sour Cream: Provides a cool and creamy balance to the warm, seasoned beef.
  • Optional Toppings/Dips: Use Taco Bell Sauces like Mild or Fire, guacamole, salsa, or pico de gallo to enhance the flavors.

SUBSTITUTIONS AND TIPS:

Make it Healthier: Swap the ground beef for ground turkey, plant based crumbles, black beans, or refried beans.

Try a different cheese: Use shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, or even pepper jack cheese for a kick!

Skip the tostada shell: No tostada shell on hand? Use tortilla chips, Doritos, or crispy corn tortillas instead.

Make it Spicier: Add jalapeños, hot sauce, or Taco Bell Fire Sauce for more heat.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

One of the great things about this recipe is that it can be served as a complete meal all in one! We occasionally serve it with rice, beans, or a store-bought Southwest salad.

STORAGE

I recommend making only the number of Crunch Wraps you’ll need for a single meal as they get soggy when reheated. You can store the individual ingredients separately and put together additional Crunch Wraps just before you want to eat them.

FAQ

What is the crunch part of a crunch wrap?

The crunchy part of a Crunch Wrap from Taco Bell is a tostada shell. You can substitute these for tortilla chips or broken hard taco shells if you prefer!

Is the Taco Bell Crunch Wrap Unhealthy?

The Taco Bell Crunch Wrap isn’t exactly the healthiest item on the menu. With this copycat recipe, I like that you can adjust things to make them work better for your own nutritional needs. Simple swaps like using organic meat and produce, whole wheat or lower carb tortillas, ground turkey or chicken instead of beef, and greek yogurt instead of sour cream allow you to improve the nutritional profile. You can also keep the recipe as written for the occasional treat.

Can I make this recipe vegetarian?

Absolutely! Substitute ground beef with black beans, refried beans, or plant based crumbles.

Can I meal prep these?

Some people do but I don’t recommend it. The tostada can get soggy and the lettuce and tomatoes aren’t great reheated. I like to store all of the individual components separately and assemble just before eating.

How do you fold a tortilla for a crunch Wrap?

Ensure all ingredients are in only the middle of the tortilla, taking up no more surface area than the tostada shell. Take small sections of the tortilla and fold them in toward the middle of the Crunch Wrap as pictured below. Cook seam-side down first to help seal it.
