This simple guacamole recipe with salsa combines only two ingredients avocados and salsa to create a delicious dip or topping chock full of nutrients and healthy fats.

Easy 2-Ingredient Guacamole Recipe With Salsa

I’ll be honest… for years I made my guacamole using the store-bought packets of powder that you mix with avocados. Of course, I knew the flavor didn’t compare to fresh guacamole I’d get at my favorite restaurants but it was actually the long and hard to read ingredients list that encouraged me to try a new approach.

While I love taking the time to make homemade guacamole from scratch, sometimes I want a super easy recipe that requires no chopping AND doesn’t include the packets with the ingredients I can’t pronounce.

Enter this super easy two ingredient guacamole recipe. Combine fresh avocados with your favorite salsa or pico de gallo and you’re good to go!

It still tastes fresh and delicious but is easy enough to make on a whim any time you want some delicious guac.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS

Minimal ingredients: Only pre-made salsa (or pico de gallo) and avocados are needed! Although you can add salt and fresh squeezed lime juice too if needed.

Easy: This recipe couldn’t be easier. Mash an avocado and add in salsa or pico de gallo to taste! Simple as that!

Healthy Fats: Avocados are such a great way to add healthy fats to your diet and this easy guacamole is one of the easiest ways to incorporate them!

This easy guacamole recipe combines only two simple ingredients: avocados and salsa. You simply mash the avocados, add in some salsa, and optionally add a sprinkle of salt and squeeze of lime juice.

INGREDIENTS IN THIS SUPER EASY GUACAMOLE RECIPE:

Salsa or Pico de Gallo: Use your favorite store bought option or use your own homemade salsa. I LOVE it with my homemade salsa roja!

Avocados: Perfectly ripe avocados add the creaminess and texture you’ll love.

Salt: Add salt to taste (or skip it altogether). If I’m eating the guac with salty chips I often find it’s not necessary.

HOW TO MAKE THIS GUACAMOLE WITH SALSA RECIPE

This “recipe” is so easy I’m laughing at myself as I type these short directions. I never claimed this was an intense or complicated recipe, ok?!

  1. Mash avocados.
  2. Add in salsa.
  3. Mix together.
  4. Enjoy!
Perfectly ripe avocados are key to a delicious and creamy easy two ingredient guacamole. Be sure to remove any brown spots before mashing the avocados.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What makes guacamole taste better?

Salt and lime juice bring out the flavors of the guacamole. In this recipe, if your salsa is salty you might not need to add extra salt but if the salsa doesn’t have salt, you will want to add a pinch of salt to your guacamole. You can also add a squeeze of fresh lime juice if your salsa doesn’t have it.

Is lime or lemon better for guacamole?

This is a matter of personal preference, but I like my guacamole with lime juice.

How do you keep guacamole from turning brown?

Oxygen is your enemy here. When storing guacamole you want to ensure air doesn’t touch it as your avocado will turn brown. You can press plastic wrap tightly on top of the guacamole before storing to minimizing browning.

Is guacamole healthy?

Guacamole is chock full of healthy fats thanks to the avocados; however, they are calorie dense. Learn more about the health profile of guacamole at Eating Well.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Serve this guacamole with chips for a perfect appetizer or use it to top your favorite Mexican dishes like tacos, burritos, nachos, enchiladas, etc.

This two ingredient guacamole recipe with salsa is the perfect use of my salsa roja but storebought salsa works equally well.

STORAGE

Avocado is known for turning brown fairly quickly so we try to only make as much as we’ll eat in a day or two. Store in an airtight container with the avocado pit. You can also press plastic wrap tightly against the top of the guacamole to prevent browning. Typically if browning DOES occur, only the top of the guacamole turns brown. You can remove the browned portion and the rest is fine to eat.

Serve this simple guacamole recipe with your favorite tortilla chips OR on top of your favorite Mexican inspired dishes such as nachos, tacos, burrito bowls, or taco salads.
