This blender hummus recipe is a family favorite for good reason—it’s smooth, flavorful, and perfect for everything from lunchboxes to party platters. With just a few ingredients and a trusty blender, you’ll have a delicious dip ready in no time.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed (or 1.5 cups cooked chickpeas, drained and rinsed)
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 13 cloves garlic (start with one and adjust to taste)
  • 23 tbsp fresh lemon juice (juice of approximately one lemon)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or more, if desired)
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (plus more for garnish)
  • 24 tbsp cold water or more (as needed for blending)

Instructions

  1. Cook dried chickpeas according to package directions if using (otherwise, open canned chickpeas)
  2. Drain and rinse chickpeas.
  3. Add all ingredients except water to your blender.
  4. Start blending on low, gradually increasing to high speed. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until your desired consistency is reached.
  5. Taste and adjust – add more lemon, salt, or garlic to your liking.
  6. Scoop into a serving bowl.
  7. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika or any other desired toppings.
  8. Serve with pita, veggies, or as a sandwich spread.

Notes

This is a great base recipe to make any of your favorite hummus flavors. Consider adding in roasted garlic, roasted red bell peppers, or jalapeno and cilantro. The sky is the limit!
